The commit named is the one Git's v2.56.0 tag peels to upstream.

t0006 ran build/nolua/cgit by its path, so Valgrind never saw it, and
its page checks passed a page that logged an error. The Makefile and
README said the suite runs both binaries the same way, though only
these four tests run the one without Lua.
|
|
cgit_rc keeps its name, close as it is to cgitrc_repo and cgitrc_copy,
since every script calls it, so a comment now says what it runs.

The test rule's note on ordering predates .NOTPARALLEL, which covers
it. The install paths are not compiled in, and a lowercase name is no
easier to override than another.
|
|
CGIT_SCRIPT_PATH and CGIT_DATA_PATH are install paths, read only by the
install and uninstall rules here.

A list at the end of the file is easy to miss when a target is added
or renamed.

get-git built whatever the download produced. The tarball is now
checked against the SHA-256 kernel.org publishes before it is unpacked,
so a corrupt or substituted file stops there.
|
|
make -j cgit cgit-nolua ran both sub makes in the one Git tree side by
side, compiling the same objects and archiving libgit.a twice at once.
|
|
cgit never shows Git's translations or runs its Tcl tools, yet building
needed libintl and msgfmt for one and, under make test, tclsh for the
other, which a minimal system may lack.
|
|
Git's Makefile defaults prefix to $HOME and compiles it into exec-cmd.o
as the fallback runtime prefix, so each build embedded the path of
whoever ran it and no two builders could produce the same bytes. The
release script also maps the build directory out of the debug info,
which otherwise differs between checkouts.
|
|
cgit_abort_filters unhooks the Lua write interposer under NO_LUA too,
where neither the hook nor its state exists, so make NO_LUA=1 and the
default mode of tools/release-build.sh have not compiled since the die
path learned to take stdout back from a filter. The suite now builds and
runs that variant as well, and a lua: filter in such a build is refused
with a message naming the cause instead of an unknown filter type.

Beyond the format change, the documented defaults and inheritance
notes now match what the code does.

macOS selects CommonCrypto so this never surfaced there, but on Linux
the build failed on a missing openssl header unless libssl-dev was
installed. cgit is read-only and needs no crypto.
|
|
Everything the build generates now lands in build/, so a clean is a
single remove and the source tree stays free of build output.
